IN THE HEART OF EVERY METROPOLIS, THERE EXIST AN EXTRAORDINARY, WHIRLPOOL-LIKE COMMUNITY THAT SUBMITS TO ITS OWN LAWS.
THE SETTING FOR AGIR ROMAN / EAST SIDE STORY IS IN ISTANBUL, IN ONE OF THOSE WHIRLPOOLS WHERE GRAND PASSION, DRAMA AND EXUBERANCE ARE FELT TO THE HILT AND TO WHICH THERE IS NEITHER ENTRANCE NOR EXIT.
THE STORY FOCUSES ON THE DRAMA OF GLI GLI SALIH AND HIS FAMILY, WHICH IS PUTTING UP RESISTANCE TO THE FATES AT THE FRINGE OF THE THOUSAND AND ONE LIVES BEING LIVED AT CHOLERA. THE PASSIONS OF THE FAMILY MEMBERS TORN APART BY THE BULLYING OF A DRUNK AND LOVELESS FATHER DETERMINE THEIR DESTINIES THAT HURL EACH TO SOME PLACE ELSE.
BUT NO MATTER HOW DRAMATIC AFFAIRS SEEM TO TURN OUT IN CHOLERA, LOCAL RESIDENTS HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON: TO ENJOY AND PARTY TO THEIR HEARTS’ CONTENT, REGARDLESS OF TIME OR PLACE.

AYSUN ASLAN HAS UNRAVELED THE TEMPESTS THAT RAGE IN THE WORLD OF THE DISPOSSESSED. I THINK THAT SHE HAS CREATED A BRAND NEW LANGUAGE, MIXING DIALOGUE WITH DANCE. THEY HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB.
